Valley Veterans is a military veteran-led organisation based in Ton Pentre, Rhondda. Founded over 25 years ago as an informal support group for PTSD sufferers, Valley Veterans has been a registered charity since November 2020 and received the prestigious King's Award for Voluntary Service in His Majesty's Birthday Honours in November 2025.
Valley Veterans is a vibrant hub with more than 140 active participants mainly from the R.C.T. area but from further afield as well. Current organised activities include a twice weekly Support Hub every Wednesday from 9:00am to midday and every Thursday from 9:00 to 2:30pm that is hosted in the Ton Pentre Community Centre and attracts up to 70 veterans every Thursday. We also have daily equine and horticultural activities at the adjacent land that attracts many of our members and is available to all in the community.
We offer mental health peer support, NHS Veterans Wales and MIND mental health services for Veterans who suffer from P.T.S.D. as well as benefits, housing, employment support and work closely with NHS Primary Care services to provide healthcare checks. We invite and host other groups, charities, our local council liaison officer and 3rd party organisations to support Veterans as well as providing a welcoming place to be among new and old friends in a safe environment to catch up and keep social isolation at bay.
We are totally volunteer-led and currently serving or ex-service personel and their families are always welcome to join us on our journey.
