Our Equipment Drivers transport a range of essential equipment to a variety of locations and events in the local community

What does the role involve?

  • Transporting equipment such as large floor collection boxes, event gazebos, and dog care equipment (e.g. spending pens) in your own vehicle or in a Guide Dogs vehicle to and from events and venues
  • Support with the erection and dismantling of equipment as required.
  • Ensuring you and your vehicle are safe and legally roadworthy
  • Following Guide Dogs' guidelines for manual handling
  • Ensuring that you have any additional equipment necessary to fulfil your role and that it is in working order

 

Location: Journeys will usually be within your local area, although some may be longer (this would be discussed and agreed with you in advance)

 

What skills or experience are required?

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organisation skills, including being reliable and punctual
  • Be a confident and conscientious driver - a clean driving licence is preferred, although minor driving convictions may not necessarily preclude a person from volunteering.
  • Willingness and ability to move a range of objects, including large, bulky and heavy items
