About this event
An 'energy efficiency' audit is useful for identifying where energy cost savings might be found, but it is even more important to take the time to think, assess and design in other factors so that any efficiency project both achieves its aims and maximises benefits. Energy efficiency measures are not independent factors in terms of building dynamics. This means that if you do something to a building it effects other aspects of it. For example, insulation can reduce ventilation and increase damp and mould. These are called 'unintended consequences'.
How will you, your group and building benefit?
Understanding the full effects of energy efficiency at the start really helps to design any future problems out. This of course saves a lot of time, effort and resources in the long term.
Energy efficiency works offer an opportunity to make the building work better and it makes sense to think about how any planned works can assist you in making your building even more successful buy increasing use, or making it a more pleasant place to work etc. It is important therefore to maximise the potential benefits whilst undergoing the disruption of building works.
Who is it for?
Any individual, group or organisation interested in managing a community building or providing support and advice for those who run or own community buildings.
Who supports this work?
This event is supported by a wide range of committed partners and working together to reduce bills and improve community buildings.
