The purpose of Pontypridd Land Society is to support sustainable development for the benefit of the public by the preservation/conservation of land and buildings for the relief of poverty and regeneration within and surrounding the town of Pontypridd.
In essence, we are setting up a membership organisation that will raise funds to enable to the purchase of parcels of land (small to start with) in and around the Town of Pontypridd and bank these holdings for community use. The community will determine what these land holdings will then be used for e.g. community gardens, housing, energy generation etc.
We are aiming to formally launch the Society in September as part of Pontypridd Green Week. There are currently 6 members of the committee covering the roles of Chair, Secretary & Treasurer and several advisors, one on small holdings & another on forestry.
As we move towards land purchasing to are looking to someone with experience of purchasing land holdings to advise the committee on the process and advise on risks. As you will be acting in a voluntary caparity then the committee will remain responsible for any decisions made based on this guidance.
