Penderyn Village Pantry was established in February 2021.
Our aim is to decrease the 'Food Waste' and support those in 'Food Poverty' through collecting surplus food from 9 local stores that would other wise go to waste if not re-distributed from projects like ours.
To date we've collected alone from Tesco over 13ton of food, equating to 31,500meals!!! thats not counting what we collected from the local Co-op's, One Stop Shop, Asda.
Primarily the role will be evening work as food is collected nearing store closing times, so transport is a must for this role.
We also offer roles at the Community Centre where we're based, where we open once a week on a Thursday morning offering a space and time for people to collect their freebies and stop for a coffee & chat, supporting people and signposting if and when needed. The team comprises of over 30 volunteers with our ypungest being 9 years of age.
We're an incredible team who go above and beyond to offer this service to our communities, if you would like to get incolved get in touch or call in to the centre between 9-10 on Thursdya mornings.
