At the Cost of Living Crises Summit in Pontypridd the office of Heledd Fychan MS & Luke Fletcher MS have agreed to support Food Banks and their partners to bring together clusters of organisations working in each area to improve communication and partnership working (see attached report). The intention is to improve constituents access to support through the sharing of knowledge, data collection and resources.
This summit will be an opportunity to talk directly about the impact of the crises that you are witnessing in your communities, how you are responding, your plans, and what help you might need. If you would like to put forwards a presentation or submit evidence, please let us know, even if you are unable to attend.
Whilst many of the key levers remain at Westminster there is much Wales can do independently to respond, such as capping social housing rent rises, bringing forward targets for abolishing child poverty, and starting talks with local authorities on debt bonfires for those with council tax arrears. But we would like to hear from you about how we can work together to limit the impact of the “cost of living catastrophe” and how community organisations and public sector bodies can work together locally to help address this.

Yn ystod y Gynhadledd Argyfwng Costau Byw diwethaf a gynhaliwyd ym Mhontypridd yn Mis Chwefror cytunodd swyddfa Heledd Fychan MS ac Luke Fletcher AS i gefnogi Banciau Bwyd a’u partneriaid i ddod â chlystyrau o fudiadau ynghyd i wella cyfathrebu a chydweithio (gweler yr adroddiad atodedig). Y bwriad yw gwella mynediad etholwyr at gymorth trwy rannu gwybodaeth, a chasglu data ac adnoddau. Bydd y gynhadledd hon yn gyfle i siarad yn uniongyrchol am effaith yr argyfyngau yr ydych yn eu gweld yn eich cymunedau, sut yr ydych yn ymateb, eich cynlluniau, a pha gymorth y gallai fod ei angen arnoch. Os hoffech wneud cyflwyniad neu gyflwyno tystiolaeth, rhowch wybod i ni, hyd yn oed os nad ydych yn gallu bod yn bresennol.
Er bod sawl agwedd o rym deddfwriaethol allweddol yn parhau i fod yn San Steffan, mae llawer y gall Cymru ei wneud yn annibynnol i ymateb, megis capio codiadau rhent tai cymdeithasol, cyflwyno targedau ar gyfer dileu tlodi plant, a dechrau trafodaethau ag awdurdodau lleol ar goelcerthi dyled i’r rheini ag ôl-ddyledion y dreth gyngor. Ond hoffem glywed gennych chi ynglŷn â sut y gall sefydliadau cymunedol a chyrff sector cyhoeddus gydweithio’n lleol i gyfyngu ar effeithiau'r “trychineb costau byw”.
