Event 1: RCT Children, Young People and Families Network - 9:30am-12:30pm

Guest speakers and topics this month include:

Overview of Attendance and Wellbeing Service, RCTCBC with Q&A - Dan Williams, Head of Attendance and Wellbeing and others will be joining us to provide an overview of the service and open up conversations.

RCTCBC Children's Services - RCTCBC Children’s Services is undertaking a review of its Information, Advice, and Assistance Service, and as part of achieving the best possible service, is seeking to enhance the digital information that is available to families and professionals. We are keen to engage with the network to ensure that we develop parent-led and parent-friendly digital information.

CTM Public Services Board & Well-being Plan – Making Children and Young People’s Voices Heard - The Well-being of Future Generations Act is intended to safeguard the interests of future generations; this means people of all ages, especially young people. It is about leaving the world in a better place for future generations. Wales is one of the first countries in the world to introduce a law to do this..

The Act has identified public bodies, such as Local Authorities; Health Boards and others to work more effectively together. To do this, Public Services Boards (PSBs) were created. Each PSB must make decisions and implement actions that support a sustainable Wales.

One of the ways they must do this is to think about how they involve people in making decisions. This Board needs to hear the voices of young people to make sure it is thinking about what they need and want in the CTM region (Cwm Taf Morgannwg PSB covers the Bridgend, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil areas) both now and for the future. Working together, how can we ensure that young people’s voices are heard?

Event 2: Review of Youth Work Funding - 13:30pm-4:00pm

A team drawn from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Cardiff Metropolitan University, and Wrexham University, has been commissioned by Welsh Government to engage with as many members of voluntary sector youth organisations as possible across Wales in response to a recommendation of the Interim Youth Work Board.

The purpose of their research is to:

  • Undertake a funding review/cost benefit analysis of youth work funding across Wales
  • Consider how the funding impacts youth work provision across Wales

If you work with young people in the voluntary sector, please come along!
