Local Radio Station
GTFM is the local radio station for the county of Rhondda Cynon Taf. It was established in 1999 by the Glyntaff Tenants & Residents Association in Pontypridd, as a community project and was the first Community Radio stations in Wales. The station covers the Pontypridd and Lower Rhondda area on 107.9FM as well as the Cynon Valley on 100.7FM and 107.1FM.
The station has recently been awarded a licence by Ofcom to build a local DAB multiplex in the Welsh Valleys area covering Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil, which is expected to launch mid 2022.
The station provides local news and information that's relevent to the Rhondda Cynon Taf area as well as playing a mix of music from the 60's to present day and off peak specialist programmes and has a volunteer count of approx 40 people on a weekly basis. The station also offers a free 'Community Message' spot for local charity and not for profit organisations within RCT and cost effective advertising for local businesses.
GTFM has built up a loyal audience which seems to grow by the day. Recent audience research shows the station is No1 listening choice within the CF37 postcode area and has built a massive following on Social Media for local news and information.
