The Lost Peatlands of South Wales Project is a partnership project between Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, Natural Resources Wales, Coed Lleol and Swansea University.
The project aims to restore peatland sites within the project area in order to make a positive impact on climate change, reduce wildfires and floods and increase local biodiversity. A programme of community and school based activities will be delivered to tackle environmental, social and health challenges and the heritage of the area will be celebrated to reconnect local people to the landscape and encourage visitors.
There are a number of volunteering opportunities with the project including; survey volunteers, conservation volunteers and history/heritage volunteers. The project is also looking to appoint volunteers as Community Ambassadors. If you are interested in volunteering with the project in these roles or in another way, please get in touch.
