If you are over 50, live in the Borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, and want to have your say about local and national policies. Fifty Plus Forums are independent groups of people aged 50+ who meet to discuss issues which affect the health and well-being of older people.
The five Forums – Cynon, Llantrisant, Rhondda, Taff Ely and Upper Rhondda – have full control over their meeting agendas and invite a range of Speakers to inform members and seek views on a wide range of subjects. The Speakers include Assembly Members, Councillors and Senior Officers from the Local Authority, Senior Officers from the Health Board – and representatives from organisations providing local services including Age Connects Morgannwg, Interlink ( the County Voluntary Council ( CVC ) in RCT, and the Ambulance and Fire Services.
The Older People’s Advisory Group (OPAG) are consulted by RCT County Borough Council and Cwm Taf University Health Board on any significant changes to policies, strategies and new initiatives affecting the lives of older people. OPAG consists of three members from each Forum to ensure equal representation across the Forums.
All Officers and Committee members of the five Forums and OPAG are volunteers and we have no paid staff. We appreciate the administration support we receive from Age Connects Morgannwg ( ACM ) – paid for from a Grant we receive from RCT County Borough Council.
