Play It Again Sport is a social enterprise based in Rhondda and part of People and Work charity. We have three main aims:
- To provide sports kit and equipment at low cost, to remove financial barriers to participation in sport and activity.
- To provide sporting activities in Rhondda with the funds raised.
- To divert these items from landfill and prevent waste.
At present we rely on donations from the public to provide the items we sell. We have donation bins in every RCT leisure centre to collect people's unwanted sports kit and equipment, we also have them in Cwmbran and Pontypool's leisure centres and in Cardiff City House of Sport and the National Sports Centre for Wales in Cardiff.
We collect items from these places in our National Lottery funded electric car - the idea is that we are further improving our commitment to increasing sustainability by making our journeys carbon neutral. In the future, the vehicle will also be used to aid community transport for sports participation.
We hope to begin activities as soon as COVID-19 restrictions allow, our walking rugby group in Ynyswen has thrived over the last few years, and we hope to initiate more varied activities soon. We firmly believe in the link between physical and mental health and well-being, despite our focus being 'sport' we are commited to providing any activity that supports the well-being of those within our community.
Please connect with us if you would like to collaborate on any sporting or wellbeing projects in the Rhondda.
