Mental health & social change charity
Platfform is the mental health and social change charity. We are a platform for connection, transformation and social change.
We work with people who are experiencing challenges with their mental health, and with communities who want to create a greater sense of connection, ownership and wellbeing in the places that they live.
The Out of Work Peer Mentoring service at Platfform offers one-to-one support as an individual finds their feet to move back into the workforce, delivered by peer mentors who understand the challenges people may be facing.
Funded through the ESF, the project offers free confidential peer support, through peer lived experience enabling participants to feel that ‘real connection’ and a sense of empowerment through information, advice & guidance received.
We work with people who have been unemployed for 12+ months and work with people who are economically inactive, or in receipt of a health related benefit such as ESA, if unemployed less than 12 months.
We have a dedicated team who work with young people who are 16 – 24 and not in education, employment or training, supporting them to get onto their chosen career path.
We work with participants on personal development and improving existing strengths, moving them towards the career of their choice. We can also offer access to our counselling and wellbeing service Breathe.
We work with people to find the training they need and support them to access it, including covering the costs.
We support people to find and access volunteering opportunities and work with projects to help place volunteers with them.
We will provide practical support in putting together a CV, cover letter or completing applications. We will provide interview techniques & mock interview sessions and will continue to support for a period of time after placement commenced.
