Hot Jam run creative music projects helping people express themselves through songwriting, recording and performance.

We are led by qualified teachers and professional musicians.

Our aim is to educate and enthuse through access to rock, pop and other contemporary styles through full immersive interactive events.

We have been running songwriting and performance courses since 2011, when in partnership with the University of South Wales we ran 'Merthyr Rocks' a weekly songwriting course. Each band on the course performed in a showcase gig and recorded their own demo in a professional studio.

In 2015 we ran our first fully independent course. Over three days five bands wrote their own words and music, and we helped them craft these into fully formed songs. This course ended with a showcase performance in the theatre at Cwmaman Institute, performing their own original songs and covers to family and peers.

Since this first course we have been delighted to work in partnership with Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC's Arts and Creative Industries Team on a course every year. These have take place at the Muni in Pontypridd, Coleg y Cymoedd in the Rhondda, and the Parc and Dare Theatre in Treorchy. we have worked closely with the Theatre and arts team on these events, and many bands have returned year after year and are now playing professional shows in their own right.

We have also ran songwriting projects in local schools funded by Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm Community Fund. Here we wrote songs with the children about their aspirations and local environment, and produced a video based around their performance of their composition.

Recently wew have moved this work online as a reaction to the Coronavirus pandemic. to date we have finished songs and videos for 12 songs during lockdown.
