About

Equestrian Access Group. Promoting safe off road routes for horseriders in RCT.

We are a not for profit community equestrian access group affiliated with The British Horse Society.

We promote safe and responsible horse/pony riding using all routes where equestrians are legally entitled to ride, drive or lead horses.

We run events such as ‘Guided Fun Rides’ to enable local horse/pony riders to enjoy riding in our local countryside in a group setting. We provide a safe, controlled environment where all local horse/pony riders can come together to enjoy trekking whilst building new friendships. Our members benefit from outdoor exercise and nature, which is known to increase both physical and mental well being.

We also run Bridleway Clearance Events with the permission of the Local Authority and land owners to clear overgrown paths.

Where possible, we provide maintenance/repairs to damaged gates along bridleways.

We organize Road Safety Events for our members in collaboration with RCT Road Safety Team, South Wales Police and British Horse Society.

We run accredited British Horse Society 'Ride Safe Award' training courses (as recomended in the Highway Code), to ensure as many local horse riders as possible have the knowledge to keep themselves safe whether riding on busy roads or in the countryside.

We also organise other events such as quiz nights, table top sales, summer pony camps etc.

We work in partnership with other local organisations/community groups such as The Great Glamorgan Way, Ramblers, South East Wales Rivers Trust, Tonyrefail Enviromental Group and Trail Riders Fellowship.

We also work closely with RCT Public Rights Of Way Team, Highways Authority, RCT Road Safety Team and NRW.
