The community garden was establised in 2016 with the support of Pontyclun Community Council. Over the next few years, a numbere of fruit and nut trees were planted and some raised beds installed. Although we don't have access to mains water, we have managed to grow a good amount of veg over the years and have recently started included plants for pollinators.
We have a small, dedicated team of volunteers and we meet regularly during the Spring and Summer to spend an hour or two in the garden. OUr tasks and activities range from weeding, mulching and planting to maintenaining the trees and keeping everything looking healthy and beautiful.
We also take part in community events such as Picnic in the Park in June when we organise activitie to engage people in the garden, particularly children.
We hold committee meeting a few times throughout the year, usually at the local pub! We decide what we need to do over the next few months and make sure our finances are up to date.
We have had lovely feedback from the local community to let us know how much the garden is appreciated and how people enjoy looking around and sitting down in the garden to relax.
