Ray of Light offer a weekly whittling group from beginners to advanced. Our sessions with Becky cover looking at the best carving tools to use, learn how to master the basic wood carving cuts and learn completely new skills.
Whittling can work like meditation to help to clear your mind of stressful thoughts and focus on making small things of beauty in a relaxed and supportive environment. It supports mindfulness techniques and can improve concentration. It is evidenced that it can help reduce your blood pressure and heart rate which are both signs that our body is stressed. Carving wood can help to ground us and reconnect with nature, which can be very therapeutic when some aspects of life are feeling out of control.
