What is the Peer Mentoring project?
The Peer Mentoring Project is a FREE voluntary sector-led programme that helps community groups in RCT gain valuable support and skills from mentors across RCT who have the experience and skills that can help them.
We can support your group with;
- Understanding involvement required in running/managing a group/new project within a group
- Support in set up, inclusive of constitution, bank account, insurance & putting a committee together for example
- Business planning
- Strengthening governance, inclusive of board issues
- Support in registering/changing legal status
- Support & guidance for access/apply for funding
- Understanding climate change actions, biodiversity, soil, flooding/drainage, heritage, community ownership
- Strengthening your website, this could be to strengthen a funding application for example
- Understanding & using digital mediums for engagement
How it works
- A community group contacts the project for help.
- The project coordinator will help the group clarify their ideas, aspirations & identify things they want support with.
- An action plan of support is offered.
- A peer mentor will be matched to the group and will work with them to help them achieve their goals.
- The project coordinator will keep in touch with the group to identify any further support needed.
Peer Mentors are people who have direct personal experience of taking action in RCT communities at a community level, and who have the skills and willingness to share that experience with others.
Peer mentors support, empower and develop your community group, this includes those who have not had any community group experience, helping them understand the difference they can make.
Interlink believe that some of the best people to help community groups deal with the challenges that they face are their peers – that is, other groups across RCT who have already taken action.
If you would like support from a peer mentor let us know here!
