We work with Adult Learning Wales to deliver the following courses:
Mental Health & Wellbeing – Online from Tuesday January 11th from 9.30 - 12.00 mid-day. Every Tuesday for six weeks
This is a tutor-led online course which looks at:
- What is meant by mental health and mental ill health
- Triggers of mental ill health
- A range of mental ill health problems
- Prejudices associated with mental health problems
- Promoting good mental health and wellbeing
- How to provide support
- Sources of support for mental health and wellbeing.
Knowing Myself - Online from Tuesday January 11th, between 12.30 - 3.00 pm. Every Tuesday for six weeks
Understand the significance of life experience.
Indicate key aspects of own life story.
Outline what s/he has learned about him or herself from events and significant people.
Be able to identify own skills and qualities.
Identify personal skills and qualities.
Identify a strength to develop further.
Identify an aspect of self which could be managed differently.
Know how to develop self.
Devise a personal development action plan which includes the steps to be taken, timescale and sources of support.
Anger Management & Emotional Wellbeing - In Person at New Horizons 16a Dean Street, Aberdare from Monday February 6th, between 9.30 - 12.00 mid-day for three weeks.
Be able to identify the difference between emotions and behaviours.
Know that anger can be used in a positive manner and used in a negative manner.
Know external and internal changes that happen to our bodies when we become angry.
Understand that anger can be controlled.
Be able to identify the differences between being passive, aggressive and assertive. Know the possible consequences of aggressive, passive and assertive behaviour.
Problem Solving Skills – In Person at New Horizons, 16a Dean Street, Aberdare, from Monday 27th February, between 9.30 - 12.00 mid-day for five weeks.
Understand what is meant by problem-solving.
Outline what is meant by problem-solving.
Understand problem-solving techniques.
Identify a range of characteristics of difficult problems.
Identify a range of problem-solving techniques.
Outline potential barriers to problem-solving.
Be able to use problem-solving techniques to reach a solution.
Use a problem-solving technique to solve a problem.
Identify: strengths/areas for improvement.

You will need the following:
• internet access
• access to a laptop or computer with a web camera and microphone; the use of headphones might also be of benefit
• use of the Chrome web-browser where possible
Please note that our online courses require the use of Microsoft Office 365 apps and our virtual learning environment, Moodle. Once enrolled on a course with us, we provide free access to these services.
