Maesgwyn Special school is a 11-19 years of age special needs school situated in Cwmdare, Aberdare. We work with children with a range of additional learning needs and as such we have a large vocational curriculum. One aspect of that curriculum is our gardening provision. We have a large number of gardening areas that include over ten large planting beds, fruit trees, shrubs, a greenhouse, storage sheds and a dedicated allotment area.
We are looking for volunteers to support the upkeep of our gardening areas that will include cultivation, seeding and general maintenance. This would be a perfect opportunity for individuals who are interested in looking after an allotment. We are quite flexible in terms of volunteering times but you would need a DBS check as there may be occasions when you would be in contact with children.
Maesgwyn is a lovely school with a happy atmosphere and a great gardening provision. If you love gardening and are happy in the company of children then we'd love to hear from you.
