STR-ôc© Uses Community Gardening as a pro-active platform of rehabilitation & support for those with Addictions - Chronic illness - Emotional - mental - physical health conditions & emotional Well-being. Come Rain or Shine via the use of of various outdoor activities, classes, events & workshops.
Who can Participate in STR-ôc©?
Membership is Free! at source & is based upon participation. No need for a referral from your G.P Just an eagerness to roll your sleeves up & get involved in a worthwhile community initiative. STR-ôc© activities, classes, events & workshops are open to anyone & everyone who needs to participate regardless of age, ability, disability, experience, Gender or impairment etc.
What are Outdoor Activities?
Outdoor Activities stimulates the senses, provides the individual with the opportunity to meet new people, increases morale, enhances mood and improves self-esteem. Spending time in the outdoors can reduce feelings of anger, confusion, depression, tension and fatigue, making you feel more energetic and active.
All outdoor activities are Designed to be adaptive, Inclusive, Social & Therapeutic for all who attend, its aim is to help participants relax, learn new skills, build self reliance and esteem, strengthen social bonding and move forward into the next stage of their lives.
What does Therapeutics mean?
The term Therapeutics means the treatment and care of a person for the purpose of both preventing and combating disease or alleviating pain or injury. The term comes from the Greek therapeutikos, which means “inclined to serve.”
What does Green Social Prescribing Mean?
& Green social prescribing refers to the prescription of activities involving nature. These activities may include but are not limited to: outdoor physical activities such as cycling or walking, gardening or food growing projects, Practicing Mindfulness and meditation in green spaces.
