Our Aberdare business improvement district (BID) is a business-led and funded partnership that started May 2020 for a 5 year term. Businesses within the BID levy zone invest money to make improvements within that zone. Our Aberdare BID levy members are business owners who have premises with a rateable value (RV) of £5,000 or above. Levy members pay (annually) 1.5% of their RV as a BID levy to fund BID projects that all go towards the improvement of our town. Businesses within the BID levy zone with a total RV below £5k will be exempt but can make a voluntary annual contribution of the minimum RV of £75 (1.5% of £5k).
Our projects for improvement in Aberdare town fall into 4 pledges; Look & Feel, Marketing & Events, Information & Communication and Access & Parking.
The pandemic has delayed project progress greatly and although lots of work has been done in the background, we are looking for volunteers to help increase awareness of the BID by talking to our levy members face to face to provide updates and information, make phone calls, carry out basic research online, attend regular project meetings, etc to move projects forward.
