Explore how you can do this, alongside other members of your community, through a series of facilitated visioning sessions, community learning and the opportunity to continue on a leadership development programme.
Join us at for the initial visioning sessions to kick start the journey to develop an active tourism plan, increasing footfall and boosting the circular economy in your area:
- When: Tuesday, February 14th – 10am-4pm and Thursday, February 16th – 5-7pm
- Where: CORE Business Solutions Centre, 4-5 Victoria Square, Aberdare, CF447LA
This impactful and collaborative programme will be delivered with a flexible approach to ensure that a wide community voice is heard.
Programme details
February 2023: Visioning – Together with up to 30 members of your community, you will have the opportunity to share your visions for tourism in your place. These sessions will provide a safe space to connect, share ideas and aspirations with peers.
March 2023: Leadership Development – Each community will nominate 2 representatives to continue the journey, participating in a responsive and innovative 12-day leadership programme with the aim of supporting the community with achieving their vision. This exciting programme will bring together participants from across Scotland and Wales to unlock personal leadership skills and insight into the potential opportunities tourism offers your community.
April 2023: Community Learning – Return as one community and agree on a plan going forward to help turn visions into a strong tourism offer that could support a sustainable community infrastructure and year-round employment.

Who should sign up
This programme is for people who would like to share their ideas for tourism within their community.
Participating individuals should start the programme feeling excited for their community, ready to collaborate and have an open mind to being part of the full programme schedule.
We encourage a wide mix of individuals to participate to ensure a wide community voice is heard.
Participants don't need to have previous experience or qualifications in tourism to participate.
Participation
All sessions, including the leadership development programme, are free to attend, through funding provided by the National Lottery Community Fund. Your commitment to engaging and participating and, where relevant, continuing through the whole programme, is what we ask of you. There are clear points where you can step away from participating and return at a later point.
