? Introducing Tyfu Sgiliau - Growing Skills
We’re thrilled to launch Tyfu Sgiliau/Growing Skills, a FREE community project offering hands-on workshops in cooking, preserving and pickling, woodworking and biochar production! Funded by the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund, these workshops are designed to build practical skills, promote sustainable living, and bring together people across Rhondda Cynon Taf.
? Chutney Making Workshop
Join us for a unique, hands-on preserves and jam-making workshop led by Gavin McAuley from Re:Make Valleys! Participants will learn how to make a flavourful, homemade onion chutney using fresh ingredients from the Llysh Bocs, a sustainable, lovingly grown veg box subscription project by Down to Zero.
? Workshop Highlights:
- Skill-Building: Gavin will guide you through preserving techniques, giving you the know-how to create a range of chutneys and jams at home.
- Locally Sourced Ingredients: We’ll be using fresh, seasonal produce from the Llysh Bocs supporting sustainable, community-focused food practices.
- Health & Flavor Benefits: Home-preserved foods have fewer additives and showcase the flavours of our seasonal ingredients.
✨Why Join Tyfu Sgiliau?:
- Learn Practical Skills: Gain confidence in cooking, woodworking, preserving, and sustainable practices like biochar production.
- Support Sustainability: All activities use locally sourced ingredients and environmentally friendly practices.
- Connect with Your Community: Each workshop is a welcoming space to learn and collaborate with others in the community.
